Deloitte is seeking a Toronto based Event Manager with experience in corporate events, project and team management and event operations

The Event Manager, National Events is responsible for supporting the National Culture and People event strategy, and the end to end planning of in-person, virtual and hybrid conferences, meetings and special events under the CPL portfolio.

Main responsibilities include :

Overseeing the Culture and People events portfolio nationally Providing leadership and direction on best practices and event standards, analyzing market trends and patterns Supporting and leading regional team members in Montreal, Prairies and BC managing three direct reports.

Foster trusting and strategic relationships with People and Culture leaders, leading and advising on event strategies in order to meet key business objectives, making suitable recommendations on national best practices and trends Reporting on event metrics across the markets, objectives and outcomes

Responsible for seamless end-to-end planning of large-scale events (5,000 pax +) Develop and execute event strategies, aligned with firm goals and objectives Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing, Communications, People & Culture and others, on the design and conception of events, alongside our external network of preferred suppliers Manage all logistical aspects related to event planning, such as venue sourcing and selection;

vendor negotiations, contracting and management, online registration and reporting, food and beverage experience, audio visual, floor planning and event experience, external staff organization and management, security and risk analysis and planning, etc.

Manage virtual event production elements including event platform set-up; broadcasting; speakers sourcing and contracting;

rehearsals and dry-runs support; creation of run of show; day of show calling. Oversee complex events’ needs such as hotel blocks, rooming lists, air and ground transportation plan, arrival / departure experience.

Manage all aspects of event budgets to include cost projection and avoidance, payments, and reconciliation, working alongside teams such as Finance, Procurement, Independence and Risk Management.

Onsite execution for all events (Primarily Toronto. Limited travel required)

Large-scale event project management Develop project scope, event strategy and deliverables Manage the planning team, resource planning and critical path Develop and lead meeting agendas and event presentations Budget creation and management Timeline tracking and management to ensure all milestones are met on time

The National Events Team is responsible for the planning and execution of virtual, hybrid and in-person events across Canada, and we strive to always inspire, excite, and engage our audience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6-8 years' experience in an event management role
  • Team leadership and management
  • Experience with event management software (Cvent) and other event technology solutions (Zoom, MS Teams, SpotMe)
  • Bilingualism an asset
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, under time pressure and deal effectively under stress
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and client service skill
  • Flexibility to work overtime
  • Enjoys organization and administrative tasks
  • Able to work onsite including travel

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $156,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
