Data Center Operations Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an IT Data Center Operations lead as a consultant.

This contract role will be focused on a data center migration project. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as hardware upgrades, equipment installations, and cable management to ensure optimal performance of the data center.

2. Monitor data center infrastructure including servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and power distribution systems to identify and resolve issues proactively.

3. Respond to alerts and alarms in a timely manner, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions to minimize downtime.

4. Coordinate with vendors and third-party providers for equipment repairs, replacements, and upgrades as necessary.

5. Maintain accurate documentation of data center assets, configurations, and procedures.

6. Assist in the implementation of new technologies and systems within the data center environment.

7. Adhere to security protocols and best practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data stored in the data center.

8. Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies outside of regular business hours when required.

Qualifications :

1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

2. 5+ years of experience in data center operations, including hands-on experience with server hardware, networking equipment, and storage systems.

3. Proficiency in operating systems such as Linux and Windows Server.

4. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.

5. Knowledge of data center best practices, standards, and protocols.

6. Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V is a plus.

7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

8. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and work in physically demanding environments.
