ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Duties and Responsibilities :

Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.

Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.

Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.

Maintaining documentation for fixed assets, treasury and conducting internal / external audits.

Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.

Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.

Ensuring compliance with GAAP.

Reviewing general ledger accounts and preparing and adjusting journal entries.

Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.

Cash Flow Forecasting.

Assisting with initial internal control evaluations.

Posting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.

Vacation back up and cross-training for accounts Payable / Receivable / Payroll.

Responsible for revenue management of Property, Operational, and Intercompany billings.

REQUIREMENTS :

Highly motivated and driven professional, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with a high degree of quality and accuracy.

Strong financial, analytics and business acumen skills

Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement.

Excellent communication (written and oral) skills with the ability to effectively articulate conclusions from the analysis conducted, including challenges and opportunities.

Positive attitude, good judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.

Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.

Construction industry experience is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an accounting or similar role is required.

Post-secondary diploma or degree in related field is required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including intermediate to advanced knowledge in Excel.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as being a team player.

Working knowledge of GAAP.

Strong numeracy and analytical skills.

Good problem-solving and time management skills.

Highly organized and detail oriented.

Compensation - Competitive with industry standards and includes a comprehensive health and benefits package with RRSP.

The successful candidate will be required to provide references.

This position is locally based in Charlottetown, PEI. Working remotely is not an available option for this position.
