As Woodward continues working with Indigenous communities across Canada, our team is in search of a lawyer of a 5 9-year call in BC with a background in Aboriginal, constitutional, environmental and / or administrative litigation.

Role Overview

The position is full-time and ideally located in Victoria, BC with an opportunity to travel to Indigenous communities.

This position requires a strong commitment to Indigenous self-determination and to the above values of excellence, respect, accountability, trust, and ethics.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position meets the following requirements :

• 5-9 years of call
• In good standing with one or more Canadian law societies and willing to be called to the bar in BC, ON, and in the north.
• Litigation experience in Aboriginal law, Constitutional law, environmental law, and / or administrative law
• Strong research, legal drafting, and analytical skills
• Experience communicating complex and novel legal concepts in Court and to clients.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Flexibility to travel and work in Indigenous communities is a necessary condition of employment with a valid driver’s license to access remote communities.

We offer an anticipated salary range of $102,000 to $150,000 per year (to be negotiated with consideration for education and experience) with a generous range of benefits, including health, dental, RSP contributions, three weeks of vacation, wellness, relocation, and professional development allowances.

Woodward offers flexibility with a hybrid work model. This position is intended to support ongoing litigation files.
