We are a full-service compounding pharmacy providing sterile / non-sterile, hazardous and non-hazardous compounding services to pharmacies, veterinary clinics, and veterinary patients across Alberta.
Job Description : *
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, and under the supervision of a pharmacist, this position will practice in collaboration with pharmacists to provide the best possible pharmacy services to our patients.
The Pharmacy Technician’s primary role is to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly. The right medication gets to the patient, related administration, and managed inventory.
They will transcribe verbal orders, transfer prescriptions, and check on the technical aspects of the prescription. They will always exercise professional judgment and be able to recognize when the clinical expertise of a pharmacist is required.
Responsibilities : *
Prepare compounded medications following established formulas, techniques, and safety protocols
Ensure the quality and potency of compounded medications
Maintain accurate and detailed records of compounding activities, including ingredients, formulations, lot numbers, and expiry of products
Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of compounding equipment
Work under direct and indirect supervision of pharmacists and supervise pharmacy assistants
Adhere to all compounding regulations including NAPRA standards and USP
and USP
Prepare and process prescriptions.
Other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Qualifications & Skills : *
Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician program.
Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP).
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Due to this position’s sensitive nature, the successful candidate must complete a Criminal Record Check.
