YOUR MISSION

Reporting to the Technical Director and working under the supervision of the Head Rigger, you will be required to :

  • Fill in for the Head Rigger as needed;
  • Assist the Head Rigger in all tasks related to managing the rigging team;
  • Operate rigging equipment during rehearsals and performances;
  • Ensure that all rigging equipment functions safely during rehearsals and performances;
  • In the Head Rigger’s absence, provide advice, recommendations and information on climbing equipment and work at height procedures;
  • Ensure the integrity of artistic concepts in collaboration with designers and artistic departments;
  • Ensure the safety of rigging installations at all times;
  • Assist in riggers’ integration and training;
  • Take part in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing rigging equipment;
  • Contribute to updating rigging archives, stock lists, and technical documentation;
  • Seek out, order or purchase new or replacement rigging equipment as per the company’s - procurement policies;
  • Supervise the rigging crew and work at height being performed during the load-in and load-out of the show;
  • Take part in the load-in and load-out of acrobatic and structural rigging;
  • Identify defects and / or breakages and bring them to the Head Rigger’s attention;
  • Ensure technical and temporary personnel follow safety standards and regulations regarding rigging equipment;
  • Apply safety standards and regulations for rigging equipment, and practice safe work methods;
  • Respect and support procedures and requirements set by Cirque du Soleil about managing equipment and stock;
  • Carry out all other related tasks assigned by the Technical Director, or the Head Rigger.

YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE

  • College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment or theatre production (or equivalent work experience);
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a touring rigger (experience with aerial / human rigging an asset);
  • In-depth knowledge of rigging equipment;
  • Personnel management experience;
  • Knowledge of basic structural loads and forces;
  • Flexible, autonomous and team-spirited;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure;
  • Ability to work high above the ground (climbing abilities essential);
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications for Windows
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential;
  • Available to tour full time and to work in foreign countries.
