We’re looking for a Senior Communications Advisor to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia. Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications :

• Minimum of 7- years of progressive experience in a strategic communications role.
• University degree in Public Relations / Communications.
• Proven execution of communication and stakeholder engagement strategies in a corporate environment.
• Strategic communications planning and project management experience .
• Experience in development and execution of both internal and external communication strategies and tactics in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills .
• Demonstrated initiative and accountability to deliver results .
• Experience in leading through influence holds others accountable in a positive and effective manner outside of having direct authority.
• Superior relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize collaborative engagement with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.
• Confident and articulate , able to share ideas while maintaining a strong sense of team, while continually evaluating what is best for the organization.
• Must have a continuing record of professional development.
• Experience in the forestry industry, or other resource-based manufacturing business considered an asset.

In this role you will :

• Deliver communication services, plans and programs that enable strategic business priorities.
• Provide strategic counsel and communications support to Tolko leaders and team members at all levels of the organization.
• Collaborate with Operating and Service Teams to bolster employee engagement and strategic alignment through the use of standardized tools and processes across the business.
• Understand, appropriately engage, and be an ambassador for the services model, our brand, and communication processes on behalf of the Communications Team.
• Work as part of an emergency response team to support issues affecting Tolko.
• Prepare briefs for senior management as required.
• Travel frequently to operations sites (anticipate a minimum of once per quarter).
