Your Position & How You Will Contribute : Based in York Region in a hybrid working environment Reporting to the Outside Plant Manager, The FTTH (Fiber to the Home) Design Specialist will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the implementation of fiber optic networks to residential areas.
This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including project managers, field technicians, and external contractors, to ensure the successful deployment of FTTH infrastructure.

Responsibilities & Key Duties include : Network Design and PlanningDesign FTTH networks, including fiber routes, distribution, and drop pointsCreate detailed network design maps using GIS and CAD softwareConduct site surveys to assess feasibility and gather necessary data for designDocumentation and ReportingPrepare comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, fiber allocation plans, and bill of materialsMaintain accurate records of network designs, modifications, and as-built documentationGenerate progress reports and project status updates for management and stakeholdersCollaboration and CoordinationWork closely with project managers to develop project timelines and resource requirementsCoordinate with field technicians and contractors to ensure designs are accurately implementedLiaise with local authorities and utility companies to obtain necessary permits and clearancesQuality Assurance and ComplianceEnsure designs comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirementsConduct quality checks and site inspections to verify the accuracy of installationsAddress and resolve any design-related issues that arise during the deployment processTechnical Support and TrainingProvide technical support and guidance to field technicians and other team membersConduct training sessions on FTTH design principles and best practicesTravel may be required to various project locations.

g., OSPInsight, Bentley)Education : Post-secondary education in Geographic Information Systems is an assetBachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Certification in FTTH design (e.g., FTTH Council Certified).Experience : 3+ years of FTTH / x design experience3+ years of experience with GIS and AutoCADMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in FTTH network design and deploymentProficiency in GIS and CAD software (e.
