Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution : Interact with internal and external teams to develop project plans and execute them.
- Management of Change : Facilitate the Management of Change (MOC) procedure and guidelines, including overseeing the change request approval process.
- Technical Oversight : Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and designers to drive process development, process improvement, or technology innovation.
- Risk Management : Identify potential risks, assess their impact, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Safety Management : Understand Process Safety Management principles including Process Hazard Analysis such as HAZOP, HAZID or What-If scenarios.
- Budget Control : Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation.
- Stakeholder Communication : Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, milestones, and any deviations from the plan.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate project records, technical documentation, and reports.
- Mentoring : Support, train, and mentor more junior team members.
- Health, Safety, and Environment : Demonstrate a positive safety culture and prioritize safety in all aspects of the project.
Required Experience and Competencies
- 8+ years of experience in a relevant technical field (e.g., engineering, research, or technology development).
- 4+ years of experience in a Project Management role.
- Expertise in preparing cost estimates, planning, scheduling, and managing construction of projects in a technical environment.
- Familiarity with project delivery, project turnover, and working with end-users during system start-up.
- Experience with risk analysis and assessment tools.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing technical documents, specifications, and calculations.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering or a related technical field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required or pending.
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) registration in Canada is not required but may be an asset.
