JOIN OUR TEAM AS A CASUAL DETENTION GUARD Location : Smithers Detachment Shift Times : Will be on a as needed basis - Days, Evenings, and Overnights Pay Rate : Starting at $22 / hr Position Summary Commissionaires BC is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as a Casual Detention Guard at the Mackenzie RCMP detachment.
Under the guidance of the RCMP Members responsible for Cell Block Operations, you will be entrusted with the safety and well-being of persons in custody, along with other key duties.
Important : Applicants must reside within a 60-minute drive of the detachment.
Duties and Responsibilities Surveillance : Regularly observe and check prisoners, including monitoring via CCTV. Assistance : Aid RCMP members as required and manage meal organization. Record Keeping : Maintain a detailed prisoner activity logbook. Cell Maintenance : Ensure cleanliness of cells and conduct searches before and after occupation, reporting any damage. Security : Maintain cellblock security, ensuring cell doors are always locked and personal effects are secured. Fire Safety : Monitor and adhere to fire safety protocols. Medical and Laundry : Handle and dispense approved medications and laundry items under direction of RCMP members.
Miscellaneous : Perform additional duties as required by the detachment. Qualifications Age Requirement : Must be 19 years or older.
Certification : Valid Basic First Aid certificate or willingness to complete prior to hiring.
Clearance : Ability to obtain RCMP Reliability Clearance (6+ months process).
Language : Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Vision : Meet RCMP-V4 visual standards (eyeglasses permitted).
Physical Requirements : Ability to lift up to 20 kg, bend, and climb stairs.
Skills : Ability to remain calm under stress, work independently, and be discreet.
