The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation is responsible for the policies, legislation, regulations, programs, and services that enable Alberta’s agriculture and food sectors to flourish and contribute to Alberta’s economic recovery and growth. The ministry’s role is diverse, ranging from food safety and industry growth and diversification to increasing investment and supporting growth in rural Alberta.
The Trade, Investment and Food Safety Division expands and diversifies Alberta’s food and bioproduct manufacturing sector in local and global markets while also providing effective food safety assurance systems.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director Agri-Food Assurance, as the Manager Licensing Policy, you will be responsible for the Policy and Licensing teams in the Food Safety branch.
Responsibilities :
- Leading a team of professionals to consistently perform at a high level to achieve program outcomes and demonstrate the values of the APS.
- Supporting the Agri-Food Assurance Director in daily operations, providing administrative and financial leadership including expenditure officer duties, and responding to Action Requests.
- Leading policy analysis and legislation development.
- Supporting Legislative amendments, policy, and program improvements.
- Financial management that includes overseeing RFP development, contract management, translation of licensing documents, financial forecasting, and reporting.
- Change and Issues Management.
This position is responsible for developing the most efficient and effective solutions to emerging meat slaughter and processing issues through policy, legislation, and / or program improvements. This position must be able to strike a balance between public safety, economic drivers, and political sensitivities.
Demonstrated strong project management skills with an ability to handle and prioritize multiple deadlines will be an asset.
