About the Position

The Community Initiatives and Agriculture team is looking for a Temporary Agriculture Specialist (12-18 month contract). The Agriculture Specialist will have extensive experience and knowledge of the various sectors within the agriculture industry. This includes both small and large livestock production, animal care best practices, forage and cropping, food production, the value-add chain as well as the various agriculture businesses that support the industry.

This knowledge will serve the Agriculture Specialist well as they develop, implement and coordinate an array of agricultural programs and experiences that not only connect urban and rural communities, but also supports the business of agriculture in an authentic manner. Key responsibilities will be delivering agriculture experiences at KDays, Farmfair International and supporting the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

The Agriculture Specialist will positively influence decisions and outcomes by sharing agriculture knowledge, seeking agriculture options from their network, and problem-solving. This position requires an individual that is resilient, composed and can help bridge the values of the farm, with the values of Explore Edmonton.

The successful candidate will have the following :

  • Post-secondary education in agriculture, business or event management.
  • 4 years experience agriculture programming with knowledge of the agriculture industry.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, work in collaboration.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite and previous experience with ShoWorks.
