We’re looking for our next Director of Public Relations. Could It Be You?

Working with multiple internal stakeholders and Agency of Record (AOR), our Director of Public Relations will nurture and lead a strong industry / media network, increase awareness and develop an enviable company image by developing and executing effective communication and media relations strategies.

This is a role that touches a number of teams throughout the organization, and requires strong partnerships with our Product Management, Brand, Design, Data and Analytics, and Government Relations teams.

The individual in this role will strategically create and grow a favorable public image for our brand / company by communicating news, accomplishments and / or points of views. They will field media questions and pitch stories to the media, prepare media kits and organize press conferences / events as needed. They also counter negative publicity and handle crisis and emergency communications.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Having a passion for Questrade’s unique position in the market having the ability to draw attention to our brand and our mission in a way that pushes the boundaries for the business

Managing and coordinating public relations activities for both our consumer facing brand and our employer brand

Developing and executing innovative PR strategy, with clear objectives, budget, and planned tactics

Developing and executing media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media

Leveraging existing media relationships and cultivating new contacts within media and key influencers

Managing media inquiries and interview requests

Managing and creating speaking points for QFG spokespeople

Curating content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations

Monitoring, analyzing and communicating PR results on a quarterly basis

Evaluating opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an ongoing basis

Building thought-leadership opportunities to grow awareness and reputation

Maintaining a keen understanding of industry trends and making appropriate recommendations regarding strategy surrounding them

Collaborating with our social media team to engage audiences across traditional and new media

Generating non-traditional ideas, experiential events to further amplify our campaigns and product launches

Collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure all relevant PR content is on-brand, accurate, and consistent in positioning and tone of voice

Working with other members of the creative team (writers and designers) to generate fact sheets, infographics and other visual elements for distribution

Have 15+ years experience in leading public relations as a function and building PR strategy that identifies value add opportunities for the business in the marketplace

Have a proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level

Have a proven track record in briefing and managing company spokesperson for both broadcast and print media interviews

Have Brokerage or financial services experience

Have demonstrated ability to build long lasting internal and external relationships

Are an exceptional writing and editing skills

Have solid experience with social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Have experience in event planning

Hold a BA / MA degree in Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline

Have very strong organization and prioritization skills

Have an ability to work within tight and / or changing deadlines

Have effective relationship building skills with the ability to work well at all levels of an organization and interact confidently with senior management

Have exceptional presentation skills and ability to rationalize ideas to stakeholders

Have rigorous attention to detail

Proficient in French, Mandarin or Cantonese
