About the Role
Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Lead, Permitting and Reporting position helps ensure that the mine to remain compliant with regulatory approvals by undertaking permit application submissions and reporting requirements. The Environmental Lead, Permitting and Reporting will support the operations teams of Ascot Resources to meet environmental, safety and production targets. This role will foster a health and safety culture of ‘No Harm’ while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental provincial and federal regulations, legislations, and policies.
To be successful we are looking for someone who can build positive and respectful working relationships with a diverse workforce while managing risk and supporting change in a highly complex and heavily regulated environment. You must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex problems, have excellent time management and prioritization skills, and are able to accomplish goals and objectives in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment. The successful candidate is someone who can identify risks and implement effective solutions, has strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to read, write, and comprehend technical documents, is a self-starter who works well independently as well as part of a team. This position will work primarily from home on PST, with required travel to the mine site every 2-3 months.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the main point of contact for site environmental permitting and reporting.
- Provides support to ensure compliance with environmental permit conditions, regulatory requirements, reporting requirements, legislation, commitments, and agreements with First Nations, community stakeholders and Ascot Resources core business.
- Fosters strong working relationships with all other site departments to understand upcoming work and evaluate regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Develops timelines for regulatory approval submissions and communicates risks.
- Manages budgets and schedules for consultants and contractors to support regulatory approval submissions and regulatory reporting.
- Provides input into registers for environmental regulatory requirements, permit applications, and reporting.
- Leads the preparation of reports to regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and Indigenous Nations (i.e., Annual Reclamation Report, Annual Water Quality Report, NPRI reporting, MMER reporting, etc.)
- Conducts activities per Ascot Resources policies and values and provides leadership related to Ascot's values of No Harm.
- Performs other related duties as required.
