Rotation / Shifts
Days, 8 hour shifts. For information purposes only – the Hospital reserves the right to change.
Basic Requirements
Graduate of a Health Information Management Diploma Program recognized by the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM) at a certificant level.
Member in good standing with CHIMA maintained through ongoing CPE credits.
Minimum of five (5) years previous related experience (coding).
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, complex technical, clinical and financial information in a meaningful way to clients at all staffing levels.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently & with a team.
Thorough knowledge of the flow of health information in a health care organization.
Excellent judgment and decision‑making in coding and abstracting.
Demonstrated accountability for decisions.
Excellent data entry skills.
Excellent close attention to detail and accuracy.
Advanced knowledge of commonly used computer software for coding and abstracting.
Ability to quickly adapt to new methods coding standards, and electronic systems.
Demonstrated commitment to the TOH values.
Advanced knowledge of the CIHI Canadian Coding Standards and how they are applied to all care types.
Ability to work under pressure for Ministry and facility‑imposed deadlines.
Ability to effectively recognize and contribute to team goals.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong understanding of the Provincial Funding Formula.
Thorough knowledge of Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) grouping methodologies.
Demonstrated public speaking presentation skills.
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in computer software such as MED2020 or 3M abstracting, registration systems, code finder software such as 3M Code Finder, familiarity with Folio.
Knowledge in Crystal Report Writing and SQL (Structured query Language).
Experience in adult education learning.
