What is the Opportunity?

The EHS Advisor will be responsible to actively promote a health, safety, and environmental culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual. This EHS Advisor will work in Winnipeg, supporting the High Voltage Distribution Sector.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Conduct Employee health and safety orientation and site-specific safety orientation to workers, owners, and clients
  • Train employees in fall protection, confined space entry, traffic protection, traffic control person, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response
  • Coordinate training such as WHMIS, First Aid, Forklift, Propane etc.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits
  • Conduct behavioural observation in the workplace.
  • Develop workplace plans – such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls, fall protection.
  • Distribution of safety material supplies and equipment as needed to team members.
  • Conduct safety presentations to clients and promote Aecon safety systems to potential industry clients.
  • Participate as a guest of the Joint Health and Safety Committees
  • Conduct studies and analyze accident trends.
  • Inspect project facilities and recommends corrective actions, coordination of environmental issues.
  • Assist with workers compensation claims and associated activities.
  • Develop return to work and modified work programs.
  • Accident/Incident investigations
  • Mediate health and safety issues for resolution
  • Prepare and assist with internal and external safety audits.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Must have previous experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
  • Experience with project based environments.
  • Strong knowledge of other Regulations, e.g., Electrical Utilities Safety Rules, Regulation 22/04...
  • Must be familiar with Overhead and Underground High Voltage Distribution Systems (Toronto Hydro, Alectra, Hydro One)
  • Must have an NCSO designation.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive.
  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with strong relationship management skills
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Valid G driver’s license

Pay Range: $70,000 - $100,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
