Royal Victoria Regional Health CentreBarrie, ON, CACommunications Clerks have a significant role in the activation of life-saving processes within the health centre including those for the acute stroke protocol, Code STEMI and Code Blue / Pink. In addition, Communications Clerks working in Locating are integral to the Emergency Management Program as they support the ‘central hub’ for all initial communications and alarm responses when an emergency code is initiated and throughout an emergency incident.
Communication Clerks’ primary function is to receive all incoming calls and transfer or resolve as requested. Communications Clerks in this position frequently work alone and / or with minimal supervision and are fully responsible for the processing of incoming calls, monitoring and response to critical alarms and operation of the communications systems during the hours worked, as well as other clerical duties assigned including those for morgue flow management.
Communications Clerk have a vast portfolio of additional job functions which include but are not limited to; after-hours support to the Infrastructure Technology Services department and regional hospital partners, providing network password resets and after-hours health records support.
Education :
- Secondary School Graduation required
- Post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline required; Office Administration – Health Services preferred
- Medical Terminology course required or willingness to complete within one year of hire date
