BCIT’s
School of Construction and the Environment is seeking
temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty, Welding to teach in our
Welding programs. BCIT is one of Canada’s largest post-secondary institutes, with more than 45,000 students enrolled in certificate, diploma, apprenticeship and degree programs. Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities within the Welding Department include instruction of apprentice & entry level to upgrading of journeymen on multi-process procedures. Preparing lesson plans, classroom lectures, practical demonstrations, care, repairing, and maintenance of equipment and working collectively with the Department Head and support staff. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- IP Red seal journeyman welder with BC level ‘’A” or out of province equivalent.
- Minimum five years at journeyman level.
- Must have pressure welding experiences and hold current pressure qualifications.
- Strong welding skills in various processes gained in heavy industry.
- Supervisory experience.
- Repairing and maintenance welding equipment and machinery experience. Welding inspection certification is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate or be willing to advance knowledge and skills necessary to instruct curriculum.
- Demonstrate or be willing to train for computer skills that are necessary to instruct curriculum.
- Provincial Instructors Diploma or willingness to complete would be an asset.
