About The Position
The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for the management of projects at all levels, and the supervision of Junior and Project Metallurgists in the department.
Specific Responsibilities
Manage projects, which include the following activities :
- Bid preparation and bid review at all levels
- Direct client interaction and communication
- Complete metallurgical balances
- Communicate data to clients, through e-mails or written reports, or by leading project review meetings and presentations with clients
- Analyze data and take lead in determining direction of the testing program based upon the results
- Upon completion of the test program, analyze and present the data in a format suitable for using in the project final report
- Write final technical reports for projects under management and projects managed by others if needed using standardized formats
- Conducting, supervising and reporting bench scale and pilot plant test work for complex metallurgy projects
- Direct, supervise, and, when necessary, conduct test work in laboratory
- Collaborate with senior project members and the Technical Services Manager regarding ongoing test programmes
- Providing a mentoring role for other technical staff
- Direct Junior and Project Metallurgists, and delegate work effectively
- Participate in safety audits with the site safety officer as required
- Represent ALS Metallurgy at trade shows, conferences, mining shows, etc. as required; these events may occur outside regular office hours
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned

An estimated annual salary of $100,000 at the time of posting.
