Job Description : Summary :
Summary :
The person in this position will work on various civil and geotechnical engineering and related technical assignments such as project management, civil design and analysis, construction plans and specifications preparation, design and monitoring of water and tailings storage facilities, hydraulic structures, pump stations, report writing, construction cost estimating, and site inspections.
Responsibilities will also include working with clients and potentially working with regulators and public officials. Work may involve short-term, out-of-town assignments.
Project responsibilities will include :
- Managing client relationships
- Leading projects through the entire lifecycle
- Providing technical direction and guidance to the project team during the entire project
- Managing multidisciplinary teams and projects
- Leading and helping with proposals, statements of qualifications, and other business development documents
- Assisting with client contract development and negotiations
- Coaching and mentoring technical staff
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, or mining engineering or a closely related discipline
- A minimum of 10 years of experience performing project engineering and design and business development
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) certification in Saskatchewan or ability to obtain certification within one year
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, oral (including presentation preparation and delivery), and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative
- Demonstrated project organization and management skills
- Demonstrated business development knowledge, skills, and experience
- A flexible working style that helps project teams meet client deadlines and other needs
- Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship from Barr Ltd., now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications :
- Work experience in western Canada
- 15+ years of relevant work experience
- Advanced degree in civil, geotechnical, or mining engineering or a closely related degree
- Experience working in consulting engineering
- Experience operating / managing for a consulting engineering company
- Demonstrated strong relationships with clients and the ability to develop or foster ongoing relationships and maintain a high level of client service
- Proven project management experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement business development strategies
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship or the ability to obtain a TN Visa.
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.
This position is be based out of Barr's Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, office
NOTE : Some work locations will feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
Safety training will be provided prior to being given work assignments on these sites. Applicants will be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of clients.
