Overview

Verathon is looking for a Manufacturing Technologist II to become the newest member of our Operations located in our Burnaby, BC Office.
The Manufacturing Technologist II is responsible for providing technical support to the Production, Quality Assurance and Engineering teams. This position requires close communication and coordinates activities between all three departments, providing feedback to improve the design and manufacturing processes to reduce quality defects and costs

Responsibilities

• Manage manufacturing processes and improvements in an Electro-Mechanical factory
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to provide support and resolve process and technical issues
• Create and execute verification and validation (IQ, OQ, PQ, FMEA), of product equipment, processes, and designs Review and update work instructions, ATP's, travelers and other internal documentation
• Provide training of production personnel as required
• Assist in automating or semi-automating processes to improve efficiency and reliability
• Assist in the review of processes to provide solutions for improving productivity based on lean and world class manufacturing concepts
• Assist with the design, manufacture, and implementation of production tooling, jigs, dies and test equipment
• Review existing product designs and product designs during the development phase
• Recommend changes to optimize product quality, minimize cost and ensure designs conform to production capabilities
• Assist with coordinating production of prototypes
• Investigate and analyze rejects and failures in production or customer returns and report design and process issues
• Perform product Failure Investigations and other CAPA related activities
• Perform tolerance analysis on mechanical and electrical assemblies
• Validate production equipment as needed
• Provide support for engineering by testing and validating new procedures or updates
• Provide support for supply chain in supplier meeting to assess and investigate proposed cost savings changes
• Meet annual productivity improvement goals
• Ensure consistent professional communications with all VMCA team members
• Support VMCA’s Quality Management System that establishes and maintains effective quality assurance processes and compliance to the International Standards: ISO13485, Canadian Medical Device Regulations (CMDR, SOR 98-292), FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR, 21 CFR Part 820) and the Medical Device Directive (MDD93/42/EEC).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical, mechanical or systems engineering with 2+ years of experience or a technical diploma with 3-5 years of experience is required
• Understanding of electrical and mechanical design procedures and testing methodologies
• Analytical approach to problem solving
• Experience and aptitude in Design of Experiments, ability to find root cause and correct problems effectively
• Excellent analytical and judgment skills on tolerance issues
• Hands-on laboratory or experimental experience
• Have experience with medical device, aerospace and/or automotive design and manufacturing environments
• Understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing principles
• In depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing methods and processes
• The ability to read and interpret procedures and drawings
• Strong technical, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work well in cross-functional teams
• Ability to be dynamic and creative in identifying issues, their resolutions and in the execution of the resolutions
• Ability to remain open to new ideas and to maintain a positive attitude with a focus on quality
• Some experience with automation, robotics, and PLC programming

Salary range - $55,623.00 - $62,969.00 (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).

Full-time employees who are not on a commission plan are eligible for Verathon’s annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance.
