Health Emergency Planner and Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator

Job Information
The Health Emergency Planner and Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator (HEP-OHS Coordinator) reports to the Director, Territorial Health Services, and provides territorial leadership in health emergency services planning and workplace safety for the Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS). The HEP-OHS Coordinator supports the health and social services (HSS) system readiness, response and recovery as a subject matter expert to ensure effective coordination that promotes, protects and provides for the health and well‑being of the people of the Northwest Territories.
The role is accountable for ensuring that the DHSS is prepared to respond to health emergencies and pandemics, and that it meets legislative requirements for occupational health and safety.
The incumbent works independently while managing multiple, concurrent priority projects of varying complexity that can involve one or all HSSAs, Office of the Chief Public Health Officer and other GNWT departments. The HEP‑OHS Coordinator completes many tasks by leading teams and consulting with stakeholders. Using project teams, the incumbent identifies priorities, develops short and long‑term plans for identified projects, and coordinates and / or reviews project work assigned to the members.
