Position Summary

The Regional Manager, Medical Administration and Medical Staff Supports is responsible for ensuring effective and timely functioning of key medical administration, policy, processes and programs, and management and provision of direction and leadership to medical affairs administrative staff.

With direction from the Director, Medical Staff Supports, Retention and Recruitment, the manager provides strategic support to Northern Health Medical Directors and the VP Medicine as required.

The Regional Manager provides day-to-day support to and ongoing performance management to a team of Medical Affairs Coordinators, Administrative Assistants, and liaisons across NH sites within a portfolio of responsibility.

Medical Affairs Leadership of functional business units and programs may include, but not limited to, the Northern Health Appointments office, Physician Extender Programs, Rural Programs, Medical Staff Occupational Health and Safety, Medical Staff Scheduling, and Strategic Projects and Initiatives.

The incumbent provides recommendations on policy issues, and implements changes to ensure effectiveness, efficiencies, and risk mitigation strategies are maintained at all levels of the process.

The incumbent leads within a complex matrix environment which includes medical staff, senior leaders within NH, other health authorities, Doctors of BC, Medical Staff Associations, Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc) and the Ministry of Health.

Starting salary will be approximately from $106,026 to $132,533 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications

Bachelor's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration, or a related field of study, plus five (5) to seven (7) years progressive related work experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Skills and Abilities :

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, direct, manage, and implement complex projects and change management initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to make presentations to groups.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and a collaborative approach to planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Ability to be effective in a highly dynamic, complex and environment subject to continuous change.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit tact, discretion and confidentiality when dealing with medical staff and patient / client information.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize a collaborative team approach with communication skills appropriate to managing complex relationships.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with staff at all levels, medical staff, external agencies, medical staff, and the general public in an effective and professional manner.
  • Sound knowledge of the physician credentialing and privileging and Medical Advisory Committee processes.
