POSITION OVERVIEW
Navacord is hiring technical talent in the insurance industry! We are accepting applications for a dynamic individual with 5+ years experience in a development environment with at least 3+ years experience gathering requirements and creating technical specifications.
We are looking for someone who is motivated by a fast-paced environment where technical standards and practices are valued.
This role will work with Navacord’s Broker Partners and third-party solution providers and requires someone with a strong IT background looking to interact and collaborate with engaged stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To gather business requirements and turn them into technical specifications in line with the organization’s standards and guidelines
- Develop solutions using modern programming languages and databases.
- Support existing enterprise digital assets and legacy systems.
- Identify and evaluate alternate solutions.
- Identify technical risk early in the process while finding opportunities to reuse organization level technical assets (e.g., existing APIs).
- Ensure to leverage best practices including continuous integration, automated deployment, use cases, etc. where applicable.
- Conceptualize and develop relevant use cases for client engagements : proof-of-concepts (POC), proof-of-value (POV), proof-of-technology (POT), and production deployments.
- Address various automation (RPA, AI, other) requirements, primarily around business process automation from multiple industry groups to quickly assess and arrive at a plan to deliver the required services.
- Support issue resolution that arises in day to day running of RPA and AI processes and provide timely responses and solutions as required. Provide BAU support.
- Use solution integration design using Web Services / RESTFUL API access, SDKs.
- Facilitate working and training sessions with Broker Partner staff, providing structured forums for discussion, decision-making, and learning.
- Work effectively in a projectized, cross-functional environment through collaboration and planning and disciplined execution on interdependent activities.
REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology.
- Must have 5+ years experience as programmer (e.g., .NET, Java, VB, C# / C, HTML / CSS, Python, SQL, ETL, Stored Procedures, Restful APIs, UI / UX tools).
- Must have 3+ years of experience gathering business requirements and turning them into technical specifications.
- Experience with Applied Epic’s BDE, SDK / API highly desirable.
- Experience with Azure Lakehouse and Google Big Query highly desirable.
- Proficient in working in an agile, continuous integration environment.
- Ability to understand business processes and create process flow diagrams.
- Strong analytical skills, working with structured and unstructured data sets.
- Strong communication skills, able to relay complex messages and teach new concepts.
- Self-driven and confident approach to tackling accountabilities with pace.
- Knowledge of Canada’s P&C and / or Benefits insurance industry as well as Navacord’s entrepreneurial culture and growth strategy is desirable.
- Excellent customer service, attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Willing to travel to other Navacord offices across Canada, as required.
