Accountabilities
Job Description
Client / Service Delivery :
- Participate in development and implementation of client case plan.
- Report to program manager progress, changes and / or regression in the client’s status.
- Encourage positive lifestyle alternatives where applicable : socialization, grooming and hygiene, external social opportunities, respect for dignity of themselves and others.
- Support client ownership of own actions and problem solving.
- Help clients develop problem solving and coping skills.
- Handle handing out and ordering of medications, record medication on e-MAR system or manual record sheet, as per policy.
- Monitor basic medical care and follow‑up documents, help residents book appointments.
- Identify unhealthy and inappropriate behaviors such as substance abuse and consult program manager.
- Plan and implement a meaningful weekly program held at WCOH.
- Provide crisis intervention, referrals or general information to community members.
- Register new residents and properly complete all required documents.
- Refer clients to appropriate persons for counseling, administration, housing information and social services assistance.
- Perform building safety checks, identify safety and security needs, conduct nighttime bed checks, and ensure building security and staff / resident safety.
- Clean and sanitize duties, working with residents and ensuring their rooms are clean.
- Assist dispensing PNA for client when required.
- In an emergency, use stairs to evacuate clients to a safe outside location.
- Be available for other WCOH duties as needed.
Clerical / Data Entry :
Communicate with outside agencies as required.Perform computer data entry on the client service system, input monthly statistics, maintain accurate records of client stays.Prepare correspondence and reports to the direct manager.Answer the telephone professionally, direct calls and take messages as required.Greet all visitors to the WCOH, directing them to the appropriate area.Accept mail and deliveries.Accept, receipt, and place in safe any monies received at Front Desk Office.Administrative :
Serve clients in a manner befitting Christian standards, attitudes, principles and goals, with care and concern for the spirit, body and mind of the individual.Ensure that fire safety and public health standard care is maintained.Make suggestions to improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures as required and as applicable.Critical Relationship Management :
Internal : Direct manager and other management members, staff, and volunteers; participate in regular staff meetings to review operational effectiveness; participate in other staff meetings when relevant.External : Visitors, community partners, client’s case worker, medical service providers.Managerial / Technical Leadership Responsibility :
Reports directly to : Residential Program Manager or designate.Financial And Materials Management :
Follow policy when receiving money and when assisting in giving out client’s personal allowance money.Working Conditions :
This is a part‑time unionized position, 16 hours per week. Requires flexibility. Subject to change as per operational requirements.Working environment is typically in the office and other areas in generally agreeable conditions.The performance of the job requires the ability to lift / move 20 lbs., reach, bend, twist, stoop, and computer keyboarding.All responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s mission, vision and values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.Education And Experience Qualifications
Minimum Secondary School Diploma.A university degree, college diploma or certificate from a recognized institution with studies in counseling or related experience is an asset.Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening and First Aid / CPR certificate.Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention training and valid driver’s licence are an asset.Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.Computer skills in all aspects of Microsoft Office and client data management system required.Good oral, written and electronic communication skills.Good interpersonal skills, self‑motivated and disciplined.Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.Skills And Capabilities

The target hiring range for this position is $19.65 to $19.80 with a maximum of $19.94. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
