About the Opportunity

1. Function & Team Leadership. (25%)

  • Provide innovative, insights-based recommendations to advance the priorities of the business objectives
  • Serve as a role model for Values and Leadership Competencies.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the team to achieve targets and priorities and high performance.
  • Recruit and retain top talent to increase capacity, performance and business results. Identify opportunities to expand the finance and data analytics capabilities of the team
  • Provide support and advice to the Vice President, Finance, People & Operations (VP FPO) on areas of organizational development, resource allocation, risk assessment and management.
  • Manage and maintain best-in-class internal controls and procedures to safeguard the assets of the company and ensure the integrity of financial data and reporting.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to support high quality services to Member Foundations and other stakeholders.
  • Provide information and support to Member Foundations related to areas of accountability.
  • Develop plans to educate all levels of the organization on data, finance, policy, processes, guidelines, controls and ensuring adherence to enhance operational excellence.
  • Design, develop, implement and maintain continuous improvement frameworks to enhance operations.
  • Provide analytical support and advice to the leadership teams on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow and financial policy matters.
  • Ensure business continuity plan is current in the context of evolving contingencies for area of accountability 2. Financial Management, Accounting, Audit and Control. (30%)
  • Support Vice President, Finance, People & Operations (VP FPO) with accurate organizational financial and budgetary information, providing quantitative and qualitative insights and recommendations.
  • Implement and manage financial and accounting policies, procedures, systems, and templates, promoting a climate of sound fiscal management.
  • Identify and recommend policies and practices to ensure compliance with industry regulations and legal requirements.
  • Manage the annual audit process and prepare all audit documentation as required including draft audited financial statements.
  • Address and implement operational improvements and recommendations made by the auditors or the Board.
  • Ensure timely and accurate funds disbursement and reporting to stakeholders including Board, Committees, Management, and Member Foundations
  • Manage and direct the daily administration of the accounting system including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cash flow and banking.
  • Manage the interaction with external parties relating to the financial accounts of the company specifically for banking, external audits, and financial systems.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to determine financial information and reporting needs.
  • Assist VP FPO on advising the Board and its Committees on matters related to areas of policy recommendations, administration, taxation, current trends, capital and operating budgets.

3. Business Planning, Budgeting, Evaluation and Reporting. (15%)

  • Collaborate with VP FPO to define strategy and goals related to areas of accountability.
  • Manage the development of the annual operating budget, ensuring the engagement of appropriate stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • Manage financial budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure alignment with and achievement of organizational strategies and goals.
  • Manage the implementation and execution of relevant policies, processes, procedures, information systems and templates to track, monitor, assess and report on corporate performance.
  • Manage the financial, administration tactical plans aligned to business plan and budget.
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance and KPIs and make the necessary changes in strategy and plans and ensure completion of goals and metrics. 4. Data. (30%)
  • Manage and execute the comprehensive data strategy tactical plans aligned with the goals and objectives.
  • Manage, implement and maintain data governance framework.
  • Manage and implement transformation services program plans for disbursements, tax, and campaign data.
  • Develop data governance policies, procedures and standards, as assigned
  • Mature a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization

About You

  • CPA designation required
  • Degree or Certification in Data Science or Business Analytics is an asset
  • 5-8 years experience with oversight responsibility of Finance and Operations
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a data governance / data management leadership position, including planning, design, implementation, and administration
  • 3 years people management experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced expertise in MS Excel
  • Experience in financial reporting systems and tools (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI)
  • Knowledge of system architecture principles, data quality operations, data governance principles, data management practices and regulatory requirements
  • Experience developing data governance policies, procedures and standards
  • Leadership experience in planning, design implementation and administration

Salary

$100,000 - $120,000 / year
