Overview
The Field Business Technician provides day‑to‑day administrative support to both internal and external stakeholders. This role requires strong judgment, independence, and a solid understanding of departmental processes and business unit objectives. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, field‑based environment. Candidates must reside in or near Edson, Alberta.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Office Support
- Greeting and signing in guests
- Manage and order office supplies
- Prepare spreadsheets, presentations, and forms for operations staff
- Maintain records and file retention (including e-filing)
- Take meeting minutes as required
- Organize and order PPE for staff
- Coordinate safety training for staff
Operations & Vendor Coordination
Coordinate and track field requestsProvide vendor relations supportReview and / or approve Operations invoicesTrack and investigate vendor spendMaintain hierarchy and cost center listingsCommunication & Collaboration
Provide courteous, professional support to internal and external stakeholdersAct as a key communicator within the department using Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and SharePointBuild strong working relationships with departments such as IT and FinanceSupport invoicing, requisitions, and other cross‑departmental requestsUpdate and distribute procedures, monitoring guides, organizational charts, handbooks, and manualsContribute to shared team responsibilities to help achieve departmental goalsQualifications
Required
High school diploma or GEDProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlinesHigh level of professionalism and discretion with confidential informationKnowledge of professional office proceduresStrong attention to detail and disciplined work ethicAbility to work independently in a fast‑paced, changing environmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsLegally authorized to work in Canada on a full‑time basis without restrictionsPreferred
Diploma in Business or Office AdministrationPrevious administrative experience (oil and gas experience is an asset)Experience working with SAP
