Located on Vancouver Island, the CVRD provides a wide range of local government services to a population of 80,000 within its 4 distinct municipalities and 9 electoral areas.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the CVRD in the key role of Manager Financial Planning.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager - Financial Planning is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the preparation of the Regional District’s financial plans and annual budget and provides analysis and advice to managers to ensure sound business decisions are followed.

Assesses financial risk and facilitates implementation of risk mitigation strategies. Administers grant applications and claims, and prepares annual requisitions for the Regional District and the Regional Hospital Districts.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 6 years of related progressive experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in local government
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of financial policies, practices and regulations related to local / regional government; accounting, fund accounting and budgeting practices, principles and procedures;

financial planning and analysis, business planning, risk management, and purchasing

  • Knowledge of administration of grant applications, claims, and of a collective agreement are assets
  • Effective communicator, leader, decision maker, and team member

Hours of Work

35-hour full-time work week (office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m.) with the opportunity to participate in the CVRD’s Flex Time Program.

Potential for a part-time Work From Home arrangement (1 to 2 days / week) after an appropriate training / probationary period.

This position works at the CVRD’s main office in Duncan, BC, and a regular and ongoing in-office presence is required.

Salary

Salary range of $107,924.87 to $126,173.79 per year, commensurate with experience.
