Our client is a full-service funeral, cremation and celebration of life services provider which serves the National Capital region.

They are looking for a full-time Bilingual Funeral Event Planner to join their team based in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Funeral Event Planner with their team members will provide superior customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.

The incumbent will participate in all aspects of helping the Funeral Director with funeral arrangements and planning tasks.

They will also be the lead with directing funeral gatherings and ceremonies, as well as assisting with funeral-related administrative roles.

Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include :

  • Offering comfort and superior customer service to bereaved families and friends of the deceased.
  • Providing necessary funeral service information and options to customers.
  • Assisting the Licensed Funeral Director with all the tasks and functions derived from the funeral arrangement conference.
  • Carrying out certain deceased care such as dressing, cosmetology and casketing.
  • Providing care for cremated remains including but not limited to placing cremated remains in permanent receptacles, arranging for security and shelter of remains and coordinating the permanent memorial.
  • Overseeing and directing funeral services to ensure all details are attended to and provide immediate resolution to any issues that may arise.
  • Obtaining all necessary information to complete all legal documents in an accurate and timely manner such as death certificates and burial permits.
  • Contacting newspaper to provide details of services as required.
  • Performing data entry, documentation, printing, and filing.
  • Relaying customer quality improvement suggestions.
  • Supporting new product / service development integrating customer feedback.
  • Promoting and advocating quality achievement and continuous improvement through quality control and development of processes.
  • Answering telephones and providing on-call coverage as necessary.
  • Identifying building, equipment and vehicle safety and maintenance requirements

Qualifications :

  • French / English Bilingualism is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Event Planning, Hospitality Service or Funeral Services background is an asset.
  • Strong team player who is professional and compassionate.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficient using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and funeral software.
  • Flexibility for shift work including overnight weekends and holiday on call coverage is required.
  • The successful candidate may be required to complete a background check.
