Logistics Director of Operations
About the Role :
As the Director of Operations, you will lead our team with a global perspective. Leveraging your comprehensive knowledge of road, rail, and ocean transportation, you will actively drive cost containment initiatives.
Your analytical acumen, operational expertise, and process improvement skills will be crucial in enhancing team performance and organizational efficiency.
You will be responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of transportation, scheduling, and delivery, ensuring streamlined procedures and methodologies.
Your efforts will result in reduced costs, exceptional service, and the optimization of our supply chain. Your team will rely on you to provide structure, process management, support and to keep things running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and manage all logistics operations.
- Develop and implement logistics roadmaps and KPIs for optimal system performance.
- Analyze, optimize, and recommend improvements for logistics systems.
- Prepare and manage freight budgets, including detailed reporting.
- Oversee shipment and asset management to ensure efficiency.
- Manage carrier and vendor relationships and contracts effectively.
- Standardize and enhance all logistics processes, SOPs, and roles.
- Create and deliver comprehensive reports on delivery scope and key deliverables.
- Coach, develop and foster team environment.
- Proactively identify and communicate issues, propose, and implement solutions for continuous improvement regarding service, cost, and profitability.
- Negotiate contract rate agreements with carriers, reconcile established rate levels with available partners.
- Managing inbound and outbound scheduling, pickups and all requirements related to receipt / release of goods, reconciliation, and claims
- Establish platform / framework to provide long term quotes / rate sheets / one-shot quotes to customer / business development team within acceptable time frame.
- Establish carrier / costing framework for Operation / business development team to control cost and revenue.
- Generate and analyze weekly reports / KPI to management.
- Responsible for yearly budget / targets for revenue / cost / Gross net.
- Measure the effectiveness of all processes (budget, operations, and management, etc.)
- Determine company's strategic growth as part of the executive team
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives and projects
Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills :
- 10+ years in a leadership capacity, demonstrating strong career progression in a related business (Logistics and Supply Chain leadership, international, land, ocean and air freight forwarding)
- Proven ability to develop and deliver on KPIs and deliver measurable results.
- Heightened analytical skills and solid negotiating acumen.
- Advanced knowledge of logistics / supply chain management best practices and tools
- Multi-modal logistics knowledge with scope (Can, US, and international)
- Solid knowledge of various logistics software and opportunities
- speaking mandarin is an asset
Education Requirements :
- Accreditation from one of the following designations : CITT, PLOG, SCMP, ISM
