Are you ready to build something amazing together? 🚀
We're looking for an MEP VDC/BIM Specialist to join our Digital Construction team and help deliver coordinated, construction-ready MEP models, from initial modeling through fabrication deliverables and as-built documentation
You'll build construction-level MEP models in Revit, coordinate those models with other trade and turn them into the drawings and fabrication data that mechanical contractors and fabrication shops use to build. Our projects include long-term care, healthcare, mass timber, residential and commercial work across North America.
Who Are We?
Founded in 2014, CadMakers is an industry-leading digital construction and manufacturing technology company headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia. We develop digital solutions that help the global construction industry 🏗️ solve complex, recurring challenges. Our technology and expertise empower clients to improve how projects are planned and delivered. 💡
About the Role
- 🏗️ Build Construction-Level MEPF Models: Develop coordinated Revit models of HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, gas and fire protection systems, along with associated mechanical equipment from IFC drawings, consultant models, shop drawings and trade input. Model to LOD 350–400 with actual sizes, fittings, insulation, service access and clearances
- ⚙️ Model Mechanical Rooms: Lay out boiler, chiller and water entry rooms in full detail, including equipment, housekeeping pads and all piping and ductwork
- 🔍 Lead MEP Coordination: Coordinate MEPF systems with electrical, structural and architectural models, and run clash detection in Revizto, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). Track clashes through to resolution and keep the model current as RFIs, SIs and change orders come in
- 📋 Deliver Constructability Insights: Raise virtual RFIs and issue reports on drawing conflicts, clearances, no-fly zones and installation sequencing, with practical solutions the trade can build
- 🤝 Run Coordination Meetings: Present the model in coordination meetings with general contractors, mechanical and electrical trades, consultants and fabricators, and drive open issues to closure
- 📐 Produce Construction Drawings: Generate layout, penetration, sleeve, shaft and section drawings, then manage review submittals and as-built updates
- 🔧 Deliver Fabrication Outputs: Bring ductwork and piping to fabrication level and produce pipe spool drawings, duct assembly drawings and bills of materials (BOMs). Export fabrication data (e.g. SysQue to Trimble FabShop) and hanger/support point layouts for field layout tools
- 🧭 Own Project Delivery: Plan modeling work against scope, schedule and budget, and flag scope changes early. Guide other modelers, review their work for quality and consistency, and help scope new MEP proposals
- 🚀 Optimize Processes: Improve our MEP standards, templates, families and automation (e.g. Dynamo, pyRevit and cmCore tools) so every project runs faster and cleaner than the last
Requirements
- 4+ years of MEP modeling and BIM/VDC coordination experience, ideally on the construction or trade side
- Advanced Autodesk Revit MEP skills: worksharing, linked models, shared coordinates, system modeling, families, views and sheets
- Hands-on clash detection and issue tracking in at least one of Navisworks Manage, Revizto or ACC
- Strong understanding of how HVAC, piping, plumbing and fire protection systems are installed in the field, including clearances, access, hangers and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings and submittals
- Track record of producing coordinated layout and penetration drawings that trades have built from
- Familiarity with LOD requirements, BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and model QA/QC
- Clear communicator who can run a coordination meeting and explain a problem to a superintendent or an engineer
- Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working independently
- Supportive team player with a proactive, detail-oriented attitude and a passion for continuous learning
Nice-To-Haves (but not Requireds)
- Experience with fabrication-level modeling in SysQue, Autodesk Fabrication or Trimble FabShop, including producing spool drawings and BOMs
- Experience working for, or directly with, mechanical, plumbing, sheet metal or fire protection trade contractors
- Experience laying out hangers and supports and exporting points for Trimble or other total-station layout
- Familiarity with laser scanning, point clouds and Scan-to-BIM workflows
- Ability to automate workflows with Dynamo, pyRevit or scripting (Python/C#)
- Project experience on healthcare, long-term care, mass timber or other complex building types
- Proficiency in Bluebeam for submittals and markups
- A diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical/HVAC engineering technology or a related field. Equivalent trade or field experience will also be considered
Benefits
- $75,000 - $95,000 CAD yearly salary (commensurate with relevant experience)
- Full-time position
- Workplace: In-office position in our Burnaby, BC office; with flexible hybrid options available after 3 months
- Extended comprehensive health, dental, vision, travel and life insurance coverage for you and your family
- Three weeks paid vacation
