Intermediate Greenhouse Gas Engineer

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Project Management

  • Project management, with a focus on greenhouse gas assurance projects, including preparation of plans with associated budgets and schedules.
  • Manage health and safety on-site for field components, coordinate field components, prepare project contracts / agreements, and organize / manage field teams.
  • Respond to Requests for Proposals related to greenhouse gas assurance services and develop strong client relationships.
  • Understand environmental regulations related to the work in Canada, and other jurisdictions and provinces (. Federal OBPS, provincial carbon pricing regulations, etc).
  • Coordinate and manage environmental projects with a focus on greenhouse gas assurance works. Additional management responsibilities may apply for projects involving : environmental site assessments (ESAs), hazardous materials assessments, community wastewater and solid waste planning and engineering, monitoring programs, hydrogeological studies, and site remediation projects.
  • Business travel and field work may be required, including travel nationally and to the USA.

Business Development

  • Coordination of business development activities related to greenhouse gas assurance services including proposal development and client liaison.
  • Business travel upon request.

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in environmental, chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • designation with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • 5+ years experience in environmental consulting or related experience in air quality or GHG service.
  • Completed numerous third-party GHG verifications as a lead verifier and / or verifier.
  • Demonstrated relationship with local regulators (. MECP) through project delivery.

Experience

  • Experience with GHG quantification, verification, and reporting is considered a must.
  • Experience in air quality related work is considered an asset, including :
  • emission inventory development.
  • emission estimates.
  • dispersion modelling (AERMOD, CALPUFF, CALRoads).
  • regulatory reporting.
  • An understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations pertaining to air quality and GHG reporting.
  • Experience preparing emission summary and dispersion modelling reports (ESDMs) and other air impact assessments to support ECAs, EASRs, and EAs.
  • Familiarity with National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) and Canadian Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting programs.
  • Familiarity with climate change adaptation / resilience.
  • Familiarity with geosciences (., environmental site assessments, remediation and / or environmental risk assessment).
  • Demonstrated abilities with project teamwork, team leadership, and client relationship building.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in an environment that provides quality, solution-oriented consulting services.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite products.
