As a Cook joining our Village, you will :
- Have completed grade 12 or equivalent.
- Be certified as an assistant cook, Branch 1, under Regulation 1049.
- Have successfully completed the Food Service Worker Program from a Community College as listed in the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts & Technology Act 2002 or a registered private career College in Ontario.
- Possess a valid Food Safety Awareness Certification.
- Have previous experience preparing large quantities of food, preferably in a health care or long-term care setting.
- Demonstrate the ability to have creative flair for menu planning, food preparation and presentation.
- Prove knowledge of the Ontario Food Premises Regulations and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
- Be knowledgeable of special and therapeutic diets, including texture modifications.
- Show ability to work accurately, quickly and safely.
- Assess when to increase or decrease recipe quantities to meet the needs of the Village.
It would be an asset if our new Cook has :
- Leadership qualities and ability to direct the food services department in the absence of the cook and the director of food services.
- The ability to lift a maximus of 50 lb. (5-25 lb. usual).
- The ability to participate as an effective team player who works well with others.
- Experience working and communicating with seniors.
