Field Welder Supervisor

High Ball Contracting isn't looking for a shop foreman or an assembly line welder. We are looking for a Field Leader who thrives where the pavement ends and the problems begin. As our Field Welding Supervisor / Project Manager, you are the tip of the spear. You will lead mobile crews on high-stakes industrial, marine, mining, and civil projects across BC.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You aren't just pushing a clipboard; you are planning the job, managing the client, and striking an arc yourself when the pressure is on. Whether it’s an emergency hull repair on a vessel taking on water or rebuilding a conveyor in a remote sawmill, you are the person who keeps the project moving—no matter the conditions.

Your Impact & Responsibilities

• Command the Field : Serve as the primary client liaison. You’ll translate client needs into tailored technical solutions, delivering on time and on budget.
• Full-Cycle Project Management : Own the job from start to finish. This includes material take-offs, ordering supplies, coordinating crews, and managing inventory for remote, unsupplied sites.
• Expert Craftsmanship : Perform layout, fit-up, and finish welding (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW) on carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, and cast iron.
• Mechanical Troubleshooting : Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and marine systems (tugboats, barges, cranes). If it's broken, you fix it—and leave it better than the original.
• Technical Problem Solving : Read complex blueprints or create accurate field sketches on the fly when no drawings exist.
• Safety & Quality : Ensure every weld meets CWB standards and every site meets HBCL’s rigorous safety requirements.
