Role Responsibilities

TEC is seeking an experienced and purpose-driven Water Projects Engineer to lead the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects across Alberta’s southern region. In this impactful role, you will help protect agricultural livelihoods, strengthen environmental resilience, and improve community well-being through sustainable water management.

As a Water Projects Engineer reporting to the Team Lead South, you’ll provide technical leadership and project oversight from initial planning through to final construction and asset transfer. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee consultants and contractors, and ensure engineering work meets the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills, along with the ability to manage multiple complex projects while maintaining strong relationships with internal partners, communities, and regulatory agencies.

Your key responsibilities include :

Engaging and overseeing engineering consultants.

• Preparing project scopes and selecting consultants through formal evaluation processes.
• Managing consultant performance and ensuring adherence to design, safety, and contract requirements.

Administering and reviewing design and construction activities.

Leading construction oversight and contract administration.

Contributing to departmental standards and technical leadership.

Delivering effective project and program management.

This position requires regular travel throughout southern Alberta—typically between 25-50% of the work schedule. It offers a varied work environment that includes both field and office-based activities, ideal for individuals who enjoy a flexible and hands-on approach to their work.
