Job Description

Reporting Authority :

Principal of School . The First Nation Support Worker works within the school system and is subject to the guidelines, policies and procedures established by ASD-W and school administration.

Daily schedule and work will be provided by the school based ESS Team. Although this contract is funded through Jordan's Principle, the First Nation Support Worker is an employee of ASD-W.

Scope :

The overarching mandate of the First Nation Support Worker is to assist the school based ESS Team in implementing behavioural, and academic plans and interventions with identified First Nation students who have been granted additional support through Jordan’s Principle.

Key Responsibilities and Duties :

Follow the schedule of support for the identified First Nation student(s), as provided by the school based ESS Team.

Implement behavioural and academic plans and intervention as identified by the school based ESS Team.

Facilitate individual programming as established in the identified First Nation students Personalized Learning Plan (PLP).

Share updates on student progress with school based ESS Team members and classroom teachers where applicable.

Maintain open and positive communication and relationships with school based staff.

Communicate with the school based ESS Team regarding issues that may be affecting the identified First Nation student’s progress.

Participate in staff meetings, ESST meetings (as requested), and professional development

Other duties as assigned in creating a positive learning environment for the assigned student

Terms of Employment :

This is a third-party contract based on Jordan’s Principle funding. Full time positions are 30 hours per week, with 1 paid 15min break, and 30 mins unpaid for lunch.

The length of assignment will pre-determined at date of hire.
