The Public Policy team at Netflix engages with policymakers, regulators, and government bodies in order to advocate for Netflix’s interests in the policymaking process, and acts as a strategic partner to internal business groups as they navigate the policy world.

The UCAN Policy team works with federal and local governments, as well as industry stakeholders, to : 1. Shape policy, including on matters of privacy, consumer protection, online safety, competition, tax, copyright and cultural regulations;

2. Promote a production ecosystem that aligns with our growth and values - including diversity and inclusion, accessibility and sustainability.

The role is dedicated to Canada within the UCAN Policy team and reports to the Director, Public Policy, Canada. The role is based in Toronto, Canada but entails travel to Netflix offices in Washington , Los Angeles and New York, and other locations as needed.

As part of this team, the Coordinator will be immersed in the unique content for which Netflix is known and support advocacy on all matters related to content creation, production, and delivery.

The Coordinator will implement and strategize ways to boost the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the team, be responsible for magnifying communications internally, help execute ongoing projects, and act as a point of contact for other internal teams and external stakeholders about the status of projects, progress updates, and team priorities and needs.

We are looking for someone who is focused on developing solutions, able to juggle a high volume of requests and can communicate effectively across audiences, thinks creatively, is highly organized, and is eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in legislative analysis and policy research on a wide range of issues
  • Support the creation of internal communications on key policy developments
  • Maintenance of databases and trackers on priority issues and goals
  • Collaborate with a range of internal cross-functional teams as well as external stakeholder engagement with consultants, trade associations, and industry peers
  • Assist in collateral, asset and campaign development
  • Collaborate with other internal teams on screenings and events
  • Attend company events, trade association meetings and industry receptions
  • Respond to government requests for information

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Economics or Business
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in public policy or government affairs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience developing and fostering effective relationships across diverse teams
  • Outstanding attention to detail and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred

  • Postgraduate degree in Public Policy, Law, Economics or Business
  • Written and oral fluency in English and French
  • Knowledge of the media & entertainment sector

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options.

To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range.

The range for this role is $70,000 - $350,000. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Supplemental Health and Dental Plans, Mental Health support, a RRSP Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits.

We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
