POSITION OVERVIEW:
Hansen Industries is looking to hire a SMS CAD LEAD.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE:
- Manage the activities of the CAD department.
- Assist in maximizing the efficiency of the plant.
- Ensure all programs are checked and run as required.
- Work to eliminate CAD Errors.
- Manage the workload and employees of the CAD department.
- Ensure that drawings and programs are delivered to the shop floor on time and error free.
- To deliver parts to the customer that meet or exceed Hansen's Quality Objectives (99% acceptance, 97% on-time delivery)
- To assist Hansen Industry in achieving Hansen’s Secondary Quality Objective (85% satisfaction rating, improved internal non-conformance identification).
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years’ experience with CNC programming.
- Knowledge and experience with Trumpf punching and bending, Amada Bending and Mitsubishi Laser machines.
- Experience with CAD/CAM (Trutops, Metamation, and Solid Works).
- Strong blueprint‑reading ability.
- Sheet metal design experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to use measuring equipment for precise measurements.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly adaptable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Effective communication and comprehension.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Self-motivated.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Product quality through program quality.
- Assign work and monitor the results of CAD department employees.
- Seek clarification from customers when there are discrepancies.
- Work closely with Estimating, Purchasing, Production, and Quality teams.
- Organize standards, checklists, and procedures to ensure all department personnel work to a common regime.
- Monitor and distribute work as shown on CAD Dashboard (MieTrak).
- Train and monitor the performance of new CAD personnel by utilizing resources (charts, guidelines, instructions, and data) available in Q:\`CAD\ folder.
- Monitor and maintain data integrity in Q:\`CAD\ folder such as tooling lists or bending charts etc.
- Maintain computer software and hardware through regular procedures to ensure data integrity.
- Update the Sheet Metal Shop Manager daily on workload status.
- Learn and understand the capabilities and limitations of:
- Laser machines
- Punch machines
- CNC brake equipment
- Take ownership of parts or assemblies and follow their progress on the floor.
- Resolve production issues immediately and prioritize them.
- Check work consistently with awareness of downstream processes.
- Ensure all documents and drawings are controlled effectively and efficiently.
- Follow all Quality, Safety, and Lean Procedures.
SUPPORT:
- All CAD staff and Document Control Clerk.
- Sheet Metal Shop Manager.
SHIFT AVAILABILITY:
- Day shift from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Monday to Friday.
