About the role

We’re looking for a Property Appraiser, Major Large Loss , to join our growing team!

As an Appraiser, Major Large Loss within our Property Claims Team , you will be responsible for traveling and inspecting large loss sites to produce restoration, repair or replacement cost estimates for buildings with major damage.

You will occasionally be responsible for auditing estimates and work performed by the contractors / restorers who are members of an Intact network of partners to ensure compliance with standards and policies, as well as handle complaints regarding the quality of the work, the costs, and the restoration methods.

This role is remote with travel locations in Kelowna, British Columbia with regular travel to customer sites in the surrounding area.

What you’ll do here :

  • Determine the cause of loss and detailed costs for the restoration of the damaged building.
  • Establish rebuilding costs.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external claims adjusters on the outcome of the estimate.
  • Take part in negotiations to obtain restoration cost agreements with contractors.
  • You may occasionally be asked to manage customer complaints relating to the quality of repairs and restoration.
  • Upon request, you may be assigned to the regular loss team for indefinite periods to provide support with policyholders’ claims and inquiries.
  • Prepare and present technical training as part of projects to improve control methods and processes for damaged buildings.

What you bring to the table :

  • Five to eight years of experience in property claims appraisal, with at least two years in large losses.
  • Industry experience in restoration is considered an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Xactimate estimating software.
  • Technical and practical knowledge of the restoration of damaged buildings.
  • Diploma in building appraisal and / or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer oriented.
  • Good driving record and a valid drivers license.

Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity :

$70,200.00 - $105,400.00
