Business Analyst III - 6 month contract
Location : Remote - Anywhere in Canada
Empire life is looking to hire a Business Analyst III (6 month contract) to join our Retail Business Solution team! The Business Analyst III acts as the key liaison between IT and the business stakeholders and is responsible for delivering quality business requirements that guide the development of technology solutions, and related manual validation of delivered solutions, in support of stated business objectives.
The incumbent is guided by defined procedural constraints and works as part of a delivery team, with minimal supervision from their Manager.

What you’ll be working on
Elicit requirements leveraging experience and discretion to apply an appropriate mix of approaches : interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed : business requirements document, use stories, prototypes, screen and interface designs
Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
Collaborate with designers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
Ensure solutions meet stakeholder objectives by collaborating with quality assurance professionals and subject matter experts;
conduct usability assessment; perform / support user acceptance testing efforts as required
Provides business and system expertise along with research / analysis services that support the design, delivery and maintenance of quality applications and enhancements
Implements business requirements and process change initiatives to ensure that all specifications meet the objectives of the Company
Ensures process change along with appropriate communication for integration into business unit operations
What we’re looking for you to have
5+ years work experience as a Business Analyst and / or in the insurance or investment product industry
Professional working experience with investment or insurance products
Well developed experience working with data and digital systems
Experience in process analysis and improvement
Experience in quality management concepts and approaches
Ability to think creatively, innovatively, logically, analyze and / or solve problems
Ability to work independently and / or as a team member
Well developed (team) facilitation skills
Ability to construct written reports on various issues
Well developed communication, negotiation, persuasion and / or presentation skills
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks
Post secondary degree or diploma and / or equivalent work experience
Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) designation is an asset
Courses in facilitation skills, modeling techniques and / or stakeholder management an asset
