Overview

Our client, a growing organization headquartered in downtown Victoria, is seeking a Senior Controller to lead its finance operations. This position will bring structure, accuracy, and forward-looking insight to the company’s financial operations, while fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and skilled in both tactical execution and strategic financial guidance. They will play a key role in supporting leadership across multiple departments and ensuring alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute all aspects of accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
• Manage and mentor a small finance team, currently one direct report.
• Partner closely with department heads to guide budgeting, forecasting, and financial literacy within each function.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing meaningful insights to leadership to support informed decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with both Canadian and US tax and financial reporting requirements, including hands-on preparation and submission.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting processes, and documentation to support scalability.
• Utilize and optimize the organization’s NetSuite ERP system (mandatory), with additional exposure to Salesforce or Ceridian Dayforce considered an asset.
• Provide proactive financial analysis to support growth initiatives, operational improvements, and business planning.
• Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders, ensuring clarity and shared understanding across the leadership team.
• Contribute to a positive and accountable workplace culture aligned with the company’s new direction and leadership.
