Reporting to the Commissioner, Community Infrastructure, the Director, Roads and Works is responsible for setting the strategic direction and operational management of the Roads and Works Department.
The Director provides leadership in long-term planning, service planning and delivery, financial planning and sustainability, and organizational effectiveness to ensure safety, well-being, and satisfaction of the public through high-quality, reliable, cost-effective services.
As the Director, you will ensure that annual operating and capital budgets reflect the Town’s strategic priorities, and ensure that productivity, efficiency, and the customer experience are maximized.
You will oversee the operations and maintenance of the Town’s Right-of-Way assets including roads, sidewalk and multi-use paths, streetlights, signals and signs, stormwater assets, and corporate fleet.
Advancing the Town Council's vision, priorities, and programs for Road Right-of-Way maintenance is critical, while developing and implementing service plans and growth strategies that will successfully serve the Town’s growing population in an urban setting.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in public works managing staff in a unionized environment.
A 4-year University degree in Civil Engineering, plus proof of being a registered member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.
Expert knowledge of Municipal, Regional, Provincial and Federal Governments, applicable Legislations, and awareness of current social, economic and political priorities is an asset.
Demonstrated experience in road operations and maintenance, construction and contract administration, project management, fleet management and equipment, and labour relations.
With exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, you are well-equipped to take on this important role.
