Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over five years of public practice experience, be a CPA or in the final stages of the CPA program, and be fluent in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and English. This role will play a key part in managing client engagements, leading accounting projects, and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and review full-cycle accounting engagements, including compilations, reviews, and audits.
- Prepare and review corporate tax returns (T2), personal tax returns (T1), and GST/HST filings.
- Manage bookkeeping oversight, payroll reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Advise clients on accounting standards, tax planning strategies, and compliance matters.
- Liaise with clients (including Chinese-speaking clients) to ensure clear communication and service delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior accountants and interns.
- Assist with process improvements, automation, and implementation of accounting software/tools.
Qualifications- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in public practice accounting.
- CPA designation (or final-year CPA candidate close to completion).
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and accounting standards (ASPE, IFRS).
- Proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., QBO, Sage, Xero).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and English is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships independently.
