Indigenous Education Worker (IEW) Relief Roster

School District No. 73 is currently accepting applications for the Indigenous Education Worker (IEW) Relief roster, with the possibility of an appointment to a position in the 2024 / 2025 school year.

Indigenous Education Workers provide assistance and support to either individual or groups of Indigenous students. The successful applicants will be of Indigenous Ancestry and have a thorough knowledge of applicable Indigenous culture, tradition and issues, both historical and contemporary.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. Education Assistant and Community Support Certificate)
• Two (2) years proven previous work experience working with children, preferably of Indigenous ancestry.
• Valid B.C. Driver's License.
• Indigenous language skills and previous experience supporting the Indigenous community would be an asset.

The successful incumbent(s) must be willing to travel to our outlying communities while on relief.
