Job descriptionMaintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including floors, workstations, storage areas, and restrooms. Wash and sanitize dishes, cooking utensils, and equipment following food safety guidelines. Dispose of waste and recyclables properly, ensuring cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. Regularly clean kitchen appliances, exhaust hoods, and grease traps to meet hygiene standards. Support cooks and prep staff by bringing ingredients, utensils, and equipment as needed. Assist in basic food prep tasks, such as washing and peeling vegetables. Help with the assembly and packaging of bento boxes when required. Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors to prevent slips and maintain a safe work environment. Refill and restock cleaning supplies, paper towels, and sanitizers as needed. Monitor and report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the Kitchen Supervisor. Follow proper sanitation procedures to ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen. Adhere to health and safety regulations, including safe handling of cleaning chemicals. Ensure proper storage and organization of cleaning tools and supplies. Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the Executive Chef or Kitchen Supervisor. Adapt to the needs of a fast-paced, startup kitchen environment. Assist in kitchen organization and workflow improvement efforts as the business grows. Previous kitchen stewarding, janitorial, or cleaning experience is an asset. Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Team player with good communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and adapt to various tasks as needed. Physically able to stand for long periods and handle cleaning tasks.

Kitchen Steward – La Boîte Bento Asiatique
Position Overview :
La Boîte Bento Asiatique is a startup set to launch in late spring 2025, building a new team to deliver high-quality, fresh, and affordable Asian-inspired bento meals. We are seeking a Kitchen Steward to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, support the cooking staff, and assist with janitorial duties. The Kitchen Steward will report directly to the Kitchen Supervisor and Executive Chef and play an essential role in ensuring a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
Work Conditions :
- On-site position (no remote work).
- Location : Central kitchen near Metro Station Boulevard Monk, Montreal.
- 40 hours a week. Fulltime.
- Hourly wage : $18 per hour.
- Meals provided during shifts.
