Alamos Gold’s Island Gold is one of Canada’s highest grade and lowest cost gold mines. This underground operation is located just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa in Northern Ontario. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality, and Alamos is now investing in a major expansion project which is expected to transform Island into one of the largest and most profitable mines in Canada with an 18-year mine life. Primary Responsibilities :
- Perform inspections, job and task observations to ensure compliance to safety standards.
- Training and mentoring of staff.
- Make recommendations for additional diamond drilling to improve understanding of the ore deposit.
- Participate with Geology, Engineering, Exploration and Operations in short and long-term mine planning.
- Provide stope reconciliations, dilution estimates, grade forecasting and grade blending.
- Supervise the work of the Production Geology Department.
- Using Datamine, CAD, other modeling and geostatistical software (as required), complete regular geological and grade wireframes for specified projects.
- Data entry and basic administrative tasks.
- Drill contract management, and cost control.
- Recommendations on appropriate QAQC protocols.
- Ensure that production forecasts are accurate, achievable, and in-line with company goals.
- All other tasks related to the operations of Island Gold Mine as required by the Chief Geologist.
