What You’ll Be Doing
Our Client's Chief Mine Engineer (CME) will supervise a team of technical staff tasked with providing Mine Planning (MP) services at the assigned mine site. Assemble mine reliability and operating requirements in conjunction with geology, ground control, seismic risk management, ventilation, capital planning, construction, and all other mine requirements. It is the CME's responsibility to manage the MP plan schedule at their respective mine sites, which generates the mine budget, the mine's execution plan and strategizes the mine.
Accountabilities
Taking responsibility for
- Involving Planning, Operations, Reliability, Geology as well as Ground Control and Seismic monitoring over a rolling 24-month horizon
- Monthly targets for Operations to execute.
- Formulating the budget based on the company's strategic direction
- Creating a five-year capital plan
- Supporting the monthly deviation analysis process, when corrective action is needed in the planning process
- Creating all 20 scale driving layouts and ensuring the accuracy of stopping plan estimates, including reevaluations when necessary
Assumes responsibility for
Assisting Operations in improving performance through estimation of Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) and cash flowsEngineer-in-Training (EIT) engineers and other Mine Technical Services (MTS) technical staff development will be spearheaded by the incumbent as the career champion on siteEnsure that the technical team can meet expectations. Developing, coaching, mentoring, and, when necessary, creating performance improvement plansYou Will Have
A degree in mining engineering is required as well as a Professional Engineering designationA minimum of five years in open pit or underground mining is required as CME or related experienceIntegrated Business Planning experienceCompetent in mineral finance, with experience in EBITDA, Free Cash Flow, Budget Drivers, Cutoff Policies, and Net Present Value (NPV), along with an understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), performance drivers, and constraining processesA high level of understanding of underground mining activities, including design, mining engineering, scheduling, and their interactions, as well as a knowledge of underground mining activitiesUsing engineering planning software such as Mine2-4D or MineCAD is desirableThe ability to read mining standards and guidance documents is desirable.Promoting a safe, healthful, and inclusive work environment based on active genuine care, cultivating a culture of respect, and valuing diversity is People Development and EngagementBusiness and strategic orientation, helping develop and implement strategic plans while balancing short and long-term goals and holding operations to account
