Are you interested in providing expert quantitative, financial and policy research and analysis by becoming a part of a team that supports the development of provincial infrastructure policies and programs?

If so, consider these exciting opportunities as a senior quantitative economist with the Infrastructure Research Branch at the Ministry of Infrastructure. The Branch provides research, analysis, and advice to support strategic provincial capital planning and infrastructure spending, collaborating with multiple ministries and coordinating with key central government offices.

NOTE : These positions are located at 777 Bay St., Toronto, however alternate work arrangements may be available.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will :

  • Operate forecasting models, validate expected modelling behaviours, and report on the future state of infrastructure.
  • Lead the provision of quantitative, economic, financial and strategic research and analysis in infrastructure policy and planning initiatives.
  • Design and implement capacity-enhancing tools, data models and processes to support infrastructure policy, and a culture of evidence-based decision making.
  • Provide analytical advice to ministries on enhancing their long-term infrastructure asset management planning, needs assessment and forecasting, business case development, and post-implementation performance measurement tools and programs.
  • Prepare and present briefings, advice, solutions and strategies on quantitative issues related to infrastructure policy.

Technical and Analytical Skills :

  • You have knowledge of microeconomic theory, public finance, economics or related fields.
  • You have strong quantitative skills, including data analysis and programming.
  • You are familiar with infrastructure policy and asset management.
  • You can conduct extensive research and develop quantitative models.
  • You can apply data science and statistical analysis.
  • You demonstrate skill in integrating and standardizing data from multiple sources.
  • You possess strong research integrity and persistently strive for truth and accuracy.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills :

  • You possess strong communication skills.
  • You can build and maintain positive relationships.
  • You are flexible to work in a small, dynamic team.
  • Project and Financial Management :

  • You have experience in project planning and delivering projects within established timelines.
  • You have a sound understanding of capital planning, budgeting, and financial management.
