We are looking for an enthusiastic leader that loves to rise up to a challenge. If you are detail oriented, committed to performing your work to a high standard, and have the ability to lead and inspire a team then this opportunity to join the Alberta Parks team is for you!
As the Park Maintenance Supervisor for Aspen Beach Provincial Park, you are responsible to coordinate, guide, and oversee the provision of park maintenance services throughout the park and Red Deer District. Your work is vital in ensuring visitors that visit the parks located in your District have access to clean, well maintained, and properly functioning park facilities that provide safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation experiences. Facilities under your care will include campgrounds, trails, day-use areas, shower and toilet facilities, playgrounds and picnic shelters. In addition, you are also responsible for the operation of assigned water and wastewater treatment systems in your district.
The work you perform makes several important contributions to the organization. Through delivery of the maintenance program, you would ensure that maintenance standards throughout the park are met.
The Park Maintenance Program contributes significantly to the quality of the park visitor experience by ensuring the health and safety of park visitors and staff, maximizing the life span and minimizing the lifecycle costs of park facilities, and support other District program streams. The provision of clean and safe drinking water to park facilities such as campgrounds, shower houses and visitor centres, and the effective operation of wastewater collection systems for these same facilities, is fundamental to successfully meeting goals and objectives of various business and operational plans.
Key responsibilities include :
- Oversee park maintenance services at Aspen Beach Provincial Park and Red Deer District, ensuring standards and client needs (internal and external) are met.
- Provide safe potable water to facilities, ensuring compliance with all standards and regulations.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, garbage collection, janitorial work, equipment operation, landscaping, painting, carpentry, snow removal, and general repairs.
- Supervise seasonal workers, assigning tasks, setting priorities, and managing schedules.
- Monitor staff performance to meet quality standards, implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Address public concerns and complaints related to cleanliness and upkeep promptly.
- Coordinate and perform equipment and vehicle maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Purchase materials and supplies, reconcile invoices, and submit expense claims for self and staff.
- Oversee service contracts, ensuring contractor work meets quality and safety standards.
- Address maintenance deficiencies and report progress to supervisors.
- Complete incident and safety documentation as required.
- Promote a ‘Safety is a State of Mind’ workplace and follow safety plans.
