Job Description
The Municipal District of Taber is looking for an individual with experience to operate a Regional Water Treatment Plant and a Regional Water Distribution pipeline. Key Work Activities:
Assist in the operation and preventative maintenance of M.D. of Taber Regional Level 2 Water Treatment Plants in Vauxhall and Bow Island, along with their respective regional pipelines.
Schedule and perform operational maintenance on filter membranes to achieve the highest performance rating possible.
Ensure that Water Treatment Plants operate efficiently and effectively, in compliance with Alberta Environment and Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines and Standards.
Recommend changes to the Senior Utility Operator to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Water Treatment Plants and regional transmission pipelines.
Provide a safe potable water supply for all system users at all times.
Monitor operating guidelines, including water testing, flows, pressures, chemical feed rates, reservoir levels, and water quality through online monitoring and bench testing equipment.
Follow safe handling procedures for hazardous materials, including chlorine gas, caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite, activated carbon, and PAC chemicals.
Compile and submit all required reports (daily, monthly, year-end), along with additional reports as requested.
Follow all A.E.P.A. Approval requirements.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Level II Operator Certificate Required in Water Treatment
Level I Operator Certificate in Water Distribution
Proficient computer skills
Valid Class 5 Operator's License
Abilities and Competencies Required:
Sound judgment and technical expertise in Water Treatment
Adaptability in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment
Effective problem-solving and communication skills
